Jammu, Dec. 25 -- A division bench of the high court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, comprising the chief justice Arun Palli and justice Rajnesh Oswal, on Wednesday, granted time till December 30 to the J&K estate department for filing affidavits with regard to the conclusion of the process, on the recommendations of designated committee, pertaining to the eviction of former chief minister Ghulam Nabi Azad and former J&K BJP chief Ravinder Raina from government bungalows, said the petitioner's counsel SS Ahmed. The HC directed the senior additional advocate general Monika Kohli, appearing for estates department, to comply a previous order by the court wherein the division bench had directed to conclude the process with regard to the government accommodation to two high profile politicians-- Ghulam Nabi Azad and Ravinder Raina, who continue to occupy government bungalows in contravention to rules. Kohli prayed for a short accommodation to furnishthe required affidavit in this regard. Petitioner's counsel submitted that the recommendations of the designated committee were not being taken to the logical conclusion as the illegal occupants were big wigs and the estates department was delaying the matter deliberately. He further submitted that on the last date of hearing i.e. November 17, the division bench had categorically directed that no further adjournment in this regard shall be granted. After considering the submissions of both sides, the division bench allowed time till December 30 to the state to file an affidavit with regard to the conclusion of the process on the recommendations of designated committee. During the last hearing, the high court had granted four weeks time to the estates department to conclude the process in respect of of Ghulam Nabi Azad and Ravinder Raina and has listed the PIL for hearing on December 23. In yet another writ petition filed by former MLC Ravinder Sharma, senior lawyer SM Choudhary, appearing for the former legislator, submitted before the division bench that the petitioner was ready to vacate and deliver the actual physical possession of the premises to the estates authorities but he be granted two months time to make an alternate arrangement.
