Srinagar: GMC faculty receives FAMS award
Srinagar, Nov. 10 -- Dr S Muhammad Salim Khan, professor & head, department of community medicine, government medical college, Srinagar has been conferred with prestigious fellow of national academy of medical sciences (FAMS) award.
The award was presided over by Ashim Kumar Ghosh, Governor of Haryana, on the occasion of convocation of national academy of medical sciences (NAMS) during its 65th annual conference held at PGIMER, Chandigarh on Saturday.
An official statement said that Khan has been elected as a fellow of national academy of medicine sciences (India) for the year 2025 in recognition of his academic excellence and professional achievements.
"He was earlier elected as member of NAMS a decade back. He is second NAMS Fellow from GMC Srinagar, the first being professor Syed Naseer Ahmad Shah, former principal & dean who was awarded FAMS in 1979," the statement said.
Dr Muhammad Salim Khan has done MBBS and MD in Social & Preventive Medicine (now called Community Medicine) from government medical college Srinagar under Kashmir university and has also done post-graduate diploma in hospital and health management and ICMR sponsored post-graduate diploma in bioethics from IGNOU. He has Certificate of Achievement of MECOR Level 1, 2 & 3 from American Thoracic Society. He achieved two-year FAIMER fellowship with distinction from foundation for advancement of medical education & research at PSG-FAIMER regional institute, Coimbatore in 2013, being first FAIMER fellow from GMC Srinagar. He has also been conferred fellowship awards in recognition of his contributions in Public Health by Indian Public Health Association (FIPHA), Indian Association of Preventive & Social Medicine (FIAPSM) and Indian Medical Association - Academy of Medical Specialties (FIAMS)....
