Shimla, Dec. 24 -- Marking a significant milestone in Chandigarh-Shimla corridor, both ends of Tunnel Number 5 of Shimla bypass project were successfully connected on Tuesday. This was shared by NHAI in a statement issued on Tuesday. The Tunnel 5 connects the Shimla Bypass to its final point at Chalaunthi. The completion of this tunnel will facilitate easier access to the Atal Super Specialty Institute of Medical Sciences, Chamiyana, and will also help alleviate traffic congestion in Shimla. The 27.457-km-long Shimla Bypass project is a crucial section of Chandigarh-Shimla corridor. The project includes five tunnels and aims to make travel faster and more convenient for the public. It will reduce traffic congestion in the city and shorten the travel time to Shimla (Dhali) by approximately a hour. This project will boost tourism and benefit both local residents and tourists travelling to Upper Shimla.
