SFI members clash with HP cops during protest over bus fare hike
Shimla, May 20 -- Members of the Students' Federation of India (SFI) clashed with police on Monday during a protest over bus fare hike in Himachal, in Shimla, said officials.
SFI is affiliated with the Communist Party of the India (Marxist) (CPIM).
Hundreds of SFI members gathered near the gate of Himachal Pradesh University and raised slogans against the state government. The protesters also blocked a road.
Bus fares in Himachal Pradesh have been increased by more than 12% for long distance routes, as per a recent notification issued by the state transport department
SFI state committee member Ankush Rana termed the fare hike as "anti-people and anti-student". The SFI warned the state government that it would launch a mass movement if the fare hike was not revoked....
