Separatist leader Shabir Shah sent to10-day NIA remand
Jammu, April 19 -- Kashmiri separatist leader Shabir Ahmad Shah was arrested by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in connection with a three-decade-old terror case and remanded to 10-day custody, officials said on Saturday.
Shah, who was recently released on bail after seven years of imprisonment, was arrested in Delhi by the Srinagar branch of the NIA on Friday in the 1996 case involving a terrorist attack on policemen during a militant's funeral. He was produced before the Patiala House Court in Delhi which allowed a three-day transit remand.
The recent arrest highlights that legal proceedings against the separatist leader remain active in multiple cases, with investigators continuing to act on separate FIRs.
On Saturday, Shah was produced before the special NIA court in Jammu and sent to 10-day remand.
The 72-year-old separatist leader was granted bail by the Supreme Court in a terror-funding case on March 12 and by a Delhi court in a money laundering case on March 28, following which he was released on bail with stringent conditions....
