Security forces intensify search ops in Kishtwar, no contact so far
Jammu, Nov. 7 -- Security forces intensified their searches to track down a group of three Jaish terrorists in Chatroo area of Kishtwar district on Thursday, said officials.
A soldier Kapil Kumar, 22, of 11 RR, was injured during an encounter between security forces and a group of Pakistani terrorists in Kalaban forest area on Wednesday.
"Searches have been intensified and additional reinforcements have been rushed. However, there has been no contact with the terrorists so far since initial gun fight on Wednesday," said a senior police officer.
"The jungle is dense and the terrorists have adapted to it with the help of local support. So, it always remains a challenge to eliminate them in forests on hills, which have natural caves and cavities to hide. The security forces move in cautiously to avoid losing soldiers," he added.
Security forces and J&K Police had launched a joint operation based on specific intelligence inputs on Tuesday evening. Kalaban forest in Chatroo area is around 45 kms from Kishtwar district headquarters.
Meanwhile, security forces continued their search operation following suspicious movement in the border areas of Poonch district. The operation was launched by the Special Operations Group (SOG), army and the CRPF following reports of movement of suspected persons in the Balakote-Mendhar border areas, they said.
