Dharamshala, April 28 -- Himachal Pradesh is likely to get respite from the scorching heat, as the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Shimla, has predicted light showers across the state from April 28 to May 1.
The change in weather is expected to bring down temperatures, which have remained above normal for several days, across many parts of the hill state. Heatwave conditions were also observed at several parts in the past few days. However, the weather office has said that maximum temperatures are likely to fall by 2-5degC in several areas over the next three to four days. Similarly, minimum temperatures are also expected to decline by 2-4degC during this period.
According to the IMD, light rain is likely in the plains and middle hills, while the higher reaches may witness light rain or snowfall between April 28 and May 1. On May 2, light precipitation is expected to continue in the middle and higher hills, while the plains are likely to experience dry weather.
The weather office has also issued an orange alert for hailstorms, thunderstorms accompanied by lightning, and gusty winds (40-50 kmph) in Chamba, Kangra, Kullu, Mandi, and Shimla districts on April 28. A similar alert has been issued for April 29 in these districts, except Chamba.
