Redeveloped rly station to boost tourism: hp Guv
Dharamshala, May 23 -- Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday virtually inaugurated 103 Amrit Bharat railway stations across 18 states. Among the newly redeveloped stations is the Amrit Bharat station at Baijnath Paprola in Kangra district. The station's redevelopment has been completed at a cost of Rs.8 crore.
A series of cultural programmes marked the inauguration of the redeveloped Baijnath Paprola railway station with local school students presenting vibrant and unique performances. In the lead-up to the event, the railway had organised a special competition on May 20 in schools across Baijnath Paprola. Winners of the competition were felicitated with certificates during the inaugural ceremony.
As part of the programme, memorials were also unveiled at the station to honor the martyred soldiers of Himachal Pradesh. The event witnessed the presence of around 2,100 people.
Meanwhile, Himachal governor Shiv Pratap Shukla expressed his gratitude to the PM for the redeveloped Baijnath Paprola station. He said it would give a boost to tourism besides generating employment.
The governor virtually joined the national inauguration ceremony from Karsog in Mandi district during the PM's virtual event from Bikaner in Rajasthan. Shukla highlighted that India has witnessed unprecedented growth in railway infrastructure in recent years. The central government is working with utmost commitment towards the expansion and modernisation of railway infrastructure.
He said that projects worth Rs.17,714 crore are currently underway in Himachal Pradesh. Additionally, a record allocation of Rs.2,716 crore has been made for the state in the Union Budget for 2025-26....
