Dharamshala, Nov. 24 -- BJP state president Rajeev Bindal on Sunday said that the protest by Congress leaders at the official residence of the Himachal Pradesh governor was completely "illegal and an example of unruly political conduct". "Entering a high-security and restricted area like Raj Bhavan without permission, staging a protest and burning the effigy of the nation's Prime Minister clearly shows that the Congress party is willing to go to any extent to challenge constitutional norms," he said. Bindal said that this act appears to be an attempt to create pressure on the governor, intimidate him, and force him into taking "unconstitutional" decisions. He described it as a direct attack on the democratic system. He further said that Himachal was currently facing a serious constitutional crisis. "The escalating conflict between the government and the state election commission regarding the panchayati raj elections has made the situation even more complex. The Himachal Pradesh Election Commission has met the governor and submitted a detailed letter expressing concern over the prevailing situation, which proves that the government is infringing upon the powers of constitutional institutions," he added....
