Shimla, Feb. 6 -- Lashing out at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), state Congress president Vinay Kumar said, "The previous BJP government is entirely responsible for the state's economic crisis". Hitting out at the BJP, Vinay in a statement issued on Thursday said, "The Congress government inherited liabilities of more than Rs 12,000 crore and a debt of more than Rs 75,000 crore from the previous BJP government". "Despite this, the Congress government in the state has maintained the pace of development with its limited resources. It has completed the rehabilitation of disaster-affected people, compensated for their losses, and carried out reconstruction work," said Vinay. He accused the BJP of making "baseless" statements and attempting to mislead the people of the state regarding the central budget and the discontinuation of revenue deficit grants by the 16th Finance Commission. Vinay urged the BJP to request its central leaders to restore the revenue deficit grant and provide compensation for the losses incurred by the state due to the disaster, in interest of the state.
