Over 30 Pak nationals deported
Srinagar, April 30 -- Authorities have deported more than 30 Pakistani nationals who had been living in J&K for years, as per the directions issued in the aftermath of the Pahalgam terror attack. Even the mother of Shaurya Chakra awardee Mudasir Ahmad, who was killed in a gunfight, was called to Srinagar. She was, however, allowed to stay back in India.
Inspector general of Kashmir, however, termed the information regarding Ahmad's mother 'incorrect'.
Among those who have been deported are wives of some former militants who had come under the rehabilitation plan of the J&K government. Around 15 such women have gone back to Pakistan.
Recently, at least three SPs released lists of foreign nationals staying in J&K, and they were then asked to leave in compliance with Union home ministry orders. "I know at least 10 Pakistani nationals who have left Kashmir recently," said a police officer.
However, many families, especially those of former militants, refused to leave and asked government to have a lenient view. There are no official figures from the government as to the number of those returning.
Police have compiled a list of Pakistani nationals. Officials aware of the details say those on the list will be deported if they are found in the Valley. IG Kashmir refused to comment on the matter. Langate MLA Sheikh Khursheed termed it 'collective punishment'....
