Shimla, Oct. 16 -- Stressing on creating awareness state food commission chairman SP Katyal said that "no complaint" does not necessarily indicate "no grievance", but may be due to a lack of accessibility and public awareness. Katyal, on Wednesday convened a meeting with the district grievance redressal officers (DGROs) to review the implementation status of the National Food Security Act (NFSA), 2013 and to assess the functioning of the grievance redressal mechanism at the district level. It was observed by the Chairman that, in most districts, no complaints have been reported. He emphasised that "no complaint" does not necessarily indicate "no grievance", but may be due to a lack of accessibility and public awareness. He advised that these gaps should be addressed through awareness campaigns, installation of informatory boards, and effective utilisation of social media platforms to inform and educate the public about the grievance redressal mechanism under the Act. The commission also reviewed the awareness and outreach activities undertaken by DGROs and directed them to devise a mechanism for regular physical inspection of Fair Price Shops (FPSs), Anganwadi Centres, and schools where mid-day meals are being provided.HTC...
