NLU will be set upin Jammu, or else nowhere: Bahu MLA
Jammu, Jan. 17 -- BJP MLA from Bahu constituency in Jammu, Vikram Randhawa, on Friday said that the National Law University will be set up in Jammu or else it will not be allowed anywhere.
Responding to media queries, Randhawa said, "There are only three options-either set up NLU in Jammu, or two NLUs in Jammu and Srinagar. Otherwise, it will not be allowed anywhere."
"Since the Centre has to sanction NLU to Jammu and Kashmir, let the Centre take the call that where it has to be set up. On the other hand, students of Kashmir are getting education in various institutions of Jammu," he said.
The BJP MLA further said that Jammu will not be allowed to suffer. "Efforts would be made to persuade New Delhi to allot the NLU to Jammu," he said, adding that constant discrimination of Jammu region by the successive Kashmir centric government has caused simmering discontent among the people of Jammu, who have started demanding separate state to Jammu. He claimed that Kashmir had earlier dominated Ladakh as well, adding that the situation changed only after Ladakh was carved out as a separate Union territory. "We do not want separation, but Kashmir has always discriminated against Jammu," he added.
Meanwhile, Movement Kalki and Karni Sena, two right wing organisations, besides a local leader Sunil Dimple staged protest demonstrations demanding that the NLU be set up in Jammu. The protestors shouted slogans against the Omar-led government and warned to intensify their agitation if the NLU was set up in Kashmir....
