Shimla, Jan. 20 -- The directorate of school education, Himachal Pradesh, has given compulsory retirement from government service with immediate effect to an English teacher for serious misconduct involving unauthorized absence from duty. The taken disciplinary has been taken against action against Sanjeev Passy, Lecturer (English), for serious misconduct involving unauthorized absence from duty. Departmental records indicate that while posted at Government Senior Secondary School Dahan, Sirmaur, Passy remained wilfully absent for a total of 234 days in various spells between June 1, 2022 and November 30, 2023. This conduct was deemed a clear violation of rules and disciplinary proceedings were initiated. A formal departmental inquiry was conducted, during which the inquiry officer held the charges against the official as proved. After careful consideration of the inquiry report and all relevant records, the competent authority has imposed the major penalty of compulsory retirement from government service with immediate effect. During his tenure at GSSS Dahan, Passy, was allegedly involved in the financial embezzlement of approx Rs.4L. Consequently, the department issued a separate chargesheet on October 4, 2025.
