KOLKATA, March 6 -- The Trinamool Congress (TMC) on Friday released the list of 291 candidates who will contest the crucial West Bengal elections starting March 27, with chief minister Mamata Banerjee announcing that she will take on her former party colleague Suvendu Adhikari in his stronghold in Nandigram, setting the stage for a head-to-head battle with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) that is looking to continue its momentum from the Lok Sabha polls in the key state.

"I will be contesting the elections from Nandigram. When I say something, I keep my word," Banerjee said while releasing TMC candidate list for the state polls, adding that she will be going to the constituency on March 9 and file her nomination the next day.
