Kupwara man 'offers bribe' to SHO, arrested
Srinagar, June 16 -- A man was arrested for allegedly attempting to bribe a station house officer in Kashmir's northern district of Kupwara, police said on Sunday. Accused Talib Peer, a resident of Lolab, attempted to bribe the Lalpora SHO in exchange for the unlawful release of a seized JCB vehicle, officials said.
"The JCB was earlier intercepted during routine patrolling and area domination exercises. Upon inspection, it was found without documents, and the driver was discovered to be unlicensed. Consequently, the vehicle was challaned and seized," a police spokesperson said, adding Talib Peer offered illegal gratification to the SHO to secure the release of the aforementioned vehicle.
