Illegal Bangladeshi immigrant held
Jammu, July 13 -- Police on Friday apprehended an illegal immigrant from Bangladesh in Katra town of Reasi district, said officials.
"Acting swiftly on routine surveillance duties, a team from police station Katra apprehended a foreign national, who had illegally entered Indian territory without valid travel documents," said a police spokesperson.
On Friday, during a flying squad deployment, the police party was performing routine checking duties. "At around 2 pm when the team reached Asia Chowk, they observed a suspicious individual attempting to hide himself upon noticing the police presence. The police personnel immediately intercepted him," he said.
Upon questioning, the individual identified himself as Mohammad Fahim Ahmed, son of Mohhammad A Salam of Bangladesh.
"During frisking, a Bangladesh identity card was recovered from his possession. However, he failed to produce any valid travel documents, visa or passport to justify his presence in India," said the spokesperson.
