Srinagar, Dec. 25 -- Inspector general of police V K Birdi chaired a security review meeting at the police control room, Kashmir, to assess preparedness for the peaceful celebration of upcoming events, on Wednesday, said officials. Security at key tourist destinations, including cable car terminals, forest tracks, crowded tourist spots, and major access routes were discussed during the meeting. After the season's first snowfall, especially ahead of New Year at Sonmarg and Gulmarg, the tourist arrivals is likely to increase in Kashmir, especially with a fresh prediction of another snowfall by the end of this month. The officials in the meeting stressed on coordinated patrolling, real-time intelligence sharing and continuous surveillance at tourist spots and other areas across Kashmir. The meeting was attended by all DIG's of Kashmir Zone, DIG CRPF North/South Srinagar, DIG CID Kashmir, all district SSPs of Kashmir Zone, SSP PCR Kashmir, SSP Railways, and other senior officers. Police spokesman said that IGP Kashmir was briefed by the officers on security arrangements and deployment plans. "IG Kashmir directed that all preparations be completed in advance and instructed officers to strengthen checkpoints, especially during night hours, and maintain heightened vigilance at vulnerable locations across the Valley. He emphasised the need for strict vigilance against elements posing threats to peace and security and underscored the importance of maintaining a high level of alertness, along with enhanced area domination within respective jurisdictions," the spokesman said, while sharing details of the meeting.htc...
