MUSSOORIE, May 8 -- Air Chief Marshal Birender Singh Dhanoa on Tuesday visited his Alma Mater at St George's College in Mussoorie and students to think out of the box as the country needs people who are innovators. Dhanoa, the chief of Indian Air Force, shared his joy on seeing so many students excelling in their board exams. He, however, said he still felt that something was amiss in the education. "Several students have scored 499 out of 500 in their board exams but how it is so that we are still importing fighter aircraft from other countries despite having such bright students and this is indicative of the fact that there is something amiss in the way we are teaching and training our children," said Dhanoa. "We must teach in manner the students understand basic principles and fundamentals so that they can be innovators and skillful so that they can produce aircraft." Dhanaoa recalled his days in the school from 1968 to 1969 and praised the education imparted to him during his formative years that had shaped him to take up the career in armed forces. Speaking on the Balakot air strike, he said: "I am glad to mention that the two former students from St George's College, Wg Cdr Trevor Joseph Keelor and Sqn Ldr Denzil Keelor in 1965 war were able to destroy and bring down the enemy aircraft with superior avionics. History was repeated during Balakot airstrike."...
