Dharamshala, Oct. 28 -- Himachal's technical education minister Rajesh Dharmani on Monday announced that the state's first digital university will be established at Kasaru in gram panchayat Sion, Ghumarwin assembly constituency, of Bilaspur district with an estimated investment of Rs.300 crore. Addressing a public gathering at Sion, Dharmani said that the land acquisition process is in progress and the construction work will commence soon. He stated that the establishment of this digital university will bring world-class, affordable, and quality education to the students of the region. Dharmani emphasised that this initiative will mark a historic milestone in democratising education, ensuring equal access to digital learning across rural and remote areas. The university will offer industry-oriented courses in emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, cyber security, data science, semiconductors, and machine learning, alongside traditional subjects. With the integration of digital learning modes and virtual labs, students will have the flexibility to learn at their own pace, making education more accessible and cost-effective. He said the project will create large-scale employment opportunities and act as a catalystfor the socio-economic development of the Ghumarwin region. The minister highlighted that the state government is introducing transformative and qualitative reforms in the education sector. Instead of focusing on opening new schools, the government is committed to enhancing the quality of existing educational institutions. Speaking about welfare initiatives, Dharmani said that under the "Mukhyamantri Sukh Shiksha Yojna", the state government will bear the entire educational expenses of children up to 27 years of age belonging to widowed, divorced, destitute, and differently-abled parents. htc...
