HP Congress appoints 71 block presidents
Shimla, April 18 -- The Himachal Pradesh Congress on Friday appointed its 71 block presidents.
The notification was issued by Pradesh Congress Organisation general secretary Vinod Zinta, with the appointments taking immediate effect.
This comes a day after the Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee (HPCC) had organised a meeting to strengthen that party at grassroots in view of upcoming panchayati raj and urban local body polls.
HPCC president Vinay Kumar said special emphasis will be given on encouraging the younger generation to take leadership roles. Speaking after a meeting of the Pradesh Congress Working Committee, Kumar said, "People associated with the Congress ideology will be given full opportunity in the upcoming polls. The younger generation connected with the party will be especially encouraged to come forward."
Kumar said the working committee meeting also received several suggestions aimed at strengthening the organization, including a proposal to restore student body elections, including Students' Central Association (SCA) polls in colleges and universities.htc...
