Shimla, July 15 -- The state government has issued directions to ensure testing for HIV, Syphilis, TB, Hepatitis, and other infections for every inmate across alljails. This was shared during the meeting of the state oversight committee, held under the chairmanship of Rajeev Kumar, project director of the HP State AIDS Control Committee on Monday. The meeting included a detailed discussion and review of the activities being undertaken in prisons, correctional homes and other closed settings for the period April to June, 2025-26. Rajeev Kumar informed that the state government has directed to ensure testing for HIV, Syphilis, TB, Hepatitis, and other infections for every inmate across all jails. This initiative aims to achieve the 95-95-95 targets set by NACO and to strengthen the overall health of prisoners. The 95-95-95 strategy is a UNAIDS initiative aiming to diagnose 95 per cent ofpeople living with HIV, ensure 95 per cent of those diagnosed are on antiretroviral therapy (ART), and achieve viralsuppression in 95 per centof those on ART by 2030.
