SRINAGAR, March 24 -- The flamboyant patriarch of the National Conference will be contesting the parliamentary election from Srinagar on April 18. He won the by-election to the constituency in April 2017 and got a term of less than two years. The by-election saw a 7% turnout, the lowest in three decades, and led to the killing of eight civilians in firing by security forces on polling day on April 8, 2017.
