Srinagar, May 24 -- The Jammu and Kashmir Students Association on Friday urged the J&K government to announce immediate short summer break for schools across the Union territory as the heatwave persisted in the region. Association's national convener Nasir Khuehami expressed concern over the likely impact of the rising temperatures on the students. The education department had on Thursday announced a change of school timings set to come into effect from Monday. The day temperatures continue to remain several degrees above normal across the Valley. Srinagar recorded a maximum of 33.2 degrees Celsius, some 7.8 notches above normal.
