Hailstorm in Shimla, rains lash Himachal
Dharamshala, May 3 -- Rains accompanied by hail and thunderstorms lashed parts of Himachal on Friday, the India Meteorological Department's (IMD) Shimla office said.
The weather office said light to moderate rain was seen during the past 24 hours.
It said hailstorms were reported in Shimla, Jubbarhatti, Jubbal and Siraj Valley, and thunderstorms in Shimla, Jubbarhatti, Sundernagar, Bhuntar, Kangra, Jot, Murari and Kufri. The inclement weather uprooted trees at multiple places, IMD officials said.
Gusty winds swept Kufri (65 kmph), Bilaspur (60 kmph), Bajaura (44 kmph), Reckong Peo (55 kmph), Bajaura (35 kmph) Narkanda (35 kmph) and Tabo (35 kmph).
The minimum temperatures fell by two to five degrees Celsius during the past 24 hours in plains and mid hills. The maximum temperatures fell by three to four degrees Celsius.
The highest rainfall was recorded in Solan (40mm), followed by 30mm each in Bilaspur Sadar and Rajgarh, 20mm each in Pachhad and Kufri, and 10mm in Gohar, Naina Devi, Shimla, Mandi and Paonta.
