fresh rainfall, hail in many parts of valley
Srinagar, June 3 -- Fresh rain and hailstorm hit several parts of Kashmir as the temperature at all weather stations wad recorded below normal on Monday.
From past four days, Kashmir is witnessing scattered rainfall with upper reaches recorded snowfall on Saturday which led to drop in day and night temperature.
Several parts of south Kashmir, especially Shopian district witnessed hailstorm that caused damages to apple orchards.
Srinagar on Monday recorded 23.5degC which is 3.2 degrees below normal temperature. Pahalgam the famous tourist resort recorded 19 degC 4 degrees below normal temperature, ski resort of Gulmarg recorded 11degC which is 6.5 degree below normal temperature.
"From June 4-8 the weather will be generally dry with brief spell of tain/showers towards late afternoon at isolated places can't be ruled out," the MeT bulletin said.
The southwest monsoon seasonal (June to September, 2025) rainfall is likely to be above normal in Himachal Pradesh, the IMD Shimla office said on Monday.
The normal rainfall (1971-2020) for the southwest monsoon season for Himachal is (734.4) mm.
"Above-normal rainfall carries benefits for agriculture and water resources but also introduces risks such as flooding, disruptions to transportation, public health concerns, and harm to ecosystems. To address these risks, strategies can include reinforcing infrastructure, making use of IMD's early warning systems, strengthening surveillance and conservation initiatives, and establishing response mechanisms within sectors that are particularly vulnerable," officials said.htc...
