Srinagar, Feb. 15 -- Hoping to offset the effects of pollution, the Jammu and Kashmir government is all set to declare the Dal Lake an eco sensitive zone.

The Committee of Experts (CoE) met on Thursday to review and discuss the draft notification for declaring Dal Lake and its surroundings areas as an eco sensitive zone.

"It was decided that to notify the proposal expeditiously for securing the lake as an eco-sensitive zone an expert committee on the Dal and Nageen Lake shall submit a final proposal to the housing and urban development department by February 20 so that the same report can be finalised and sent to the government of India by the end of the month," a J&K government spokesperson said.
