BJP slams Cong for 'slugfest' in police dept
Shimla, May 25 -- Shimla superintendent of police Sanjeev Gandhi levelling allegations of misconduct against director general of police (SGP) Atul Verma gave the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) more ammunition to hit out at the ruling Congress party.
Leader of Opposition in Himachal assembly Jai Ram Thakur, while talking to the media after the Tiranga Yatra at Rekong Peo in Kinnaur district, said, "Even a disciplined department like the police is in the dock. The SP is making serious allegations against the top officer of his department, the DGP. If a district officer is targeting the top officials of his department, then the situation can be understood."
"We are seeing this for the first time. The advocate general says the additional chief secretary (home) should have sent his report to him.
If the DGP and ACS have submitted their report directly to the court, then it should be understood that all the officers have lost faith in the government," he said, adding that the chief minister should take cognisance of the attempts made to destroy evidence.
