JAMMU, Jan. 28 -- Tempers ran high at the Associated Hospital of Government Medical College (GMC) in Udhampur during a meeting chaired by BJP MLA from Udhampur West, Pawan Kumar Gupta on alleged non-availability of doctors at the hospital emergency that eventually caused death of a man, who fell off from roof of his house. The incident occurred a couple of days ago. The meeting, though attended by the Additional Deputy Commissioner and the medical superintendent, saw some doctors allegedly misbehaving with the MLA. "The meeting was called by the MLA to address serious allegations of non-availability of doctors at the emergency that led to the death of a man, who had fallen off the roof of his house," said an official. Doctors at the meeting misbehaved with the MLA, who was questioning them over their absence, he added. Locals alleged that doctors at GMC were more concerned over their private practice than their official duties. The hospital administration including doctors have apologised to the MLA and have assured to improve health care at the medical college. htc...
