Shimla, April 24 -- The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Mahila Morcha on Thursday organised a "Jan Aakrosh Mahila Padyatra" at Chaura Maidan, Shimla, and accused the parties, including Congress, of being against women reservation. BJP mahila morcha state president Daisy Thakur led the "padyatra". BJP state president Rajeev Bindal, state in-charge Shrikant Sharma, Leader of Opposition Jai Ram Thakur, and co-incharge Sanjay Tandon were also present. Accusing the Congress of denying empowerment to women, Daisy Thakur said, "This is not just a political issue but an attack on the dignity of millions of women, and the response is now visible on the streets." BJP state president Rajeev Bindal said that by blocking the Women's Reservation Bill, Congress has betrayed 70 crore women of the country. He further targeted the state government, alleging that its promise of Rs.1,500 per month to 28 lakh women remains unfulfilled. "This is not merely a broken promise, but a blatant betrayal of women," he said. Leader of Opposition described the rally as the beginning of a larger political shift.
