Assembly expresses concern over bureaucratic absence
JAMMU, April 2 -- Cutting across party lines, legislators from treasury and opposition benches, on Wednesday, expressed grave concern over absence of bureaucrats in the legislative assembly during question hour.
During the fag-end of question hour, NC MLA Nazir Gurezi stood from his seat and stated that bureaucrats were taking the House casually.
Pointing to the officers' gallery, Gurezi drew the attention of the Speaker and said, "You look towards the gallery. The officers are not present."
"This House is being taken lightly. I have been a member of this House for 22 years. This gallery used to be packed. The Chief Secretary used to be present during question hour," he added.
Gurezi urged the chief minister to take stern action against them. "Why are they not coming to the House? Do they think they are above the CM and the House? What do they think of themselves? They are government servants," he said.
The NC MLA was supported by BJP legislators, who stood up in protest against the absence of bureaucrats. Soon other legislators from NC, PDP, Congress, PC and independents also joined in. htc...
