Arms, ammo dropped by Pak drone seized
Jammu, Jan. 11 -- Ahead of the Republic Day, security forces seized two pistols, three magazines, a Chinese hand grenade and live rounds, dropped by some drone from Pakistan during the intervening night of Friday and Saturday from a forward village along the international border in Samba district, officials said. The consignment was found wrapped in a packet in Paloora village that falls under the Ghagwal police station.
"Upon unwrapping the packet in the presence of an executive magistrate, a police team recovered some arms and ammunition from it," said a police officer.
The packet contained a 9 mm pistol with made-in-China marking with two magazines, a 9 mm Glock pistol (made in Austria) with a magazine, a Chinese hand grenade (having SPL HGR 84 marking) and 16 live rounds of 9 mm ammunition. A probe has been initiated, he said.
According to the police, the consignment was dropped by a Pakistan-based drone around 11 pm on Friday near Regal forward area. Officials said the area was cordoned off and a thorough search was conducted, leading to the recovery of the arms and ammunition. No arrest has been made so far....
