8 more drug traffickers in Himachal police net
Dharamshala, Feb. 22 -- Five drug-traffickers were held from Himachal in a coordinated operation across the state by the police under the PIT-NDPS Act, said police on Saturday.
A spokesperson of the police department on Saturday said that during the operation, five drug traffickers were arrested from Shimla district and one each from Dehra, Nurpur, and Una. The police worked closely across districts in coordinated manner, used accurate intelligence and followed a clear legal plan to break the organised drug supply network in the state.
Spokesperson said that 65 drug traffickers had already been detained till December 2025. In 2026, action has been taken against 31 more traffickers so far. This brings the total number of habitual and organised drug traffickers detained under these tough laws to 96, he said.
A detailed probe is being carried out to check movable and immovable properties of detained traffickers. If any property is found to have bought with money earned from illegal drug activities, it will be seized according to the law, he said....
