20 students, teacher injured as bus overturns in Bishnah
JAMMU, Dec. 21 -- Around 20 schoolchildren and a female teacher, returning from a picnic, were injured when their rashly driven bus overturned on a ring road in Ratnal area of Bishnah on Saturday evening.
Bishnah SHO inspector Rakesh Jamwal said, "Around 20 children and a female teacher were injured in the mishap. There were around 35 children in the bus. They were coming back from a picnic at Veer Bhoomi Park in Samba," he said.
The children were students of PMSK School at Gurah Manhasa in Pargwal area of Akhnoor.
He said the driver of the bus fled the spot leaving behind the children.
"Luckily, children have not suffered serious injuries," he added.
Soon after the accident, locals rushed to the spot and informed police.
Injured children were shifted to the GMC, Jammu, in police vans and ambulances.
Medical superintendent of the GMC, Jammu, Dr Virendra Trisal said, "Fourteen injured students have been shifted to the hospital emergency for treatment. The nature of their injuries is not serious." It may be stated here that the ring road has become a death trap for commuters where high speed accidents take place regularly....
