Dharamshala, May 3 -- Two persons were killed and two others injured as the car they were travelling in veered off road and plunged into a gorge on the Chamba-Pathankot national highway in Himachal's Chamba district, police said on Friday. Police identified the deceased as Mahinder Kumar, a resident of Tritha village, and Ashok Kumar, a resident of Lahar village. The accident took place on Thursday night around 11pm near Banikhet, police said, adding that the occupants were travelling from Goli to Lahar when the driver lost control over the vehicle and hit a bridge, subsequently rolling down a gorge. Police officials said the two victims died on the spot and the two injured were taken to a hospital. "One of the injured was later referred to the Chamba medical college," said a police official. After post-mortem examinations of the two deceased , their bodies were handed over to their families, police said. "We have registered a case and started an investigation to uncover the cause of the accident," a police official said....
