New Delhi, July 27 -- The coach of a cricket coaching academy in west Delhi and the part-time coach of a city-based school have been arrested for cheating budding cricketers of lakhs of rupees by promising them an opportunity to play in the Ranji Trophy and other tournaments.

The two men were nabbed by the crime branch of Delhi Police on Monday acting on a complaint filed by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in March this year, said Rajesh Deo, deputy commissioner of police (crime).

The officer identified the arrested men as Ravi Dalal, a coach at a west Delhi cricket academy and Haris Jamal, a part-time coach with a private school in Delhi. Contacted by Hindustan Times, the academy's owner denied that the place was run by ...
