14.5-kg IED neutralised in Shopian district
Srinagar, April 9 -- Security forces on Wednesday averted a major tragedy by recovering a 14.5-kg improvised electronic device (IED) planted by terrorists on a road in Jammu and Kashmir's Shopian district.
In a statement, the army said the IED was planted at Zainpora in Shopian and its timely recovery during routine sanitisation operations saved human lives.
A bomb disposal squad was called to the site and the IED was neutralised.
"#ChinarWarriors, in a joint operation with @JmuKmrPolice, averted a major terror incident by recovering and neutralising an IED near Chitragam in Gen area Zainapora, Shopian. The 14.5 kg IED, packed with high explosives and fitted with a remote trigger, was surgically handled and destroyed in a controlled manner. #IndianArmy remains resolute in its commitment to keep Kashmir terror-free," Army's 15 Corps wrote on X....
