Workshop set afire, 18 vehicles burnt
Bharatpur, Dec. 1 -- Eighteen cars were gutted after unidentified miscreants allegedly set ablaze a car workshop in Jhunjhunu district, police said on Sunday, adding two people have been detained.
Superintendent of police Brijesh Jyoti Upadhyay said the incident occurred at Churu bypass under City Kotwali where goons entered a motor workshop on Saturday night and set all cars on fire.
Kotwali SHO Shrawan Kumar said a case has been registered and efforts are on to trace the accused. Preliminary investigation revealed an ongoing land dispute between the shop owner and another group, including a man identified as Anil Kumawat. Tensions between the two sides had escalated in recent months, the officer said.
Nasir Rathor, the workshop owner, registered a complaint against Anil Kumawat allegedly for setting his workshop on fire.
"At night, neighbours called to say flames were rising from the workshop. When I reached, everything was on fire."
18 cars which were there for repair and service were burnt, police said.
On being informed, police reached the spot and called fire brigade vehicles to extinguish the fire.
Police reviewed CCTV footage to identify the accused. Police are searching for other absconded accused while two of them have been detained, SP Upadhyay said....
