Woman killed by husband, in-laws
Bharatpur, Sept. 18 -- A woman was beaten to death allegedly by her husband and in-laws in a village in Deeg district, police said on Wednesday.
They said the accused and some villagers clashed with police when they tried to stop the woman's cremation.
Station House Officer (SHO), Khoh, Mahendra Sharma said Sarla (42), a resident of Kakda village, was beaten to death by her husband, his brothers, father and mother on Tuesday.
Sarla Devi, a resident of the village of Raunija under Nadbai police station of Bharatpur district was married to Ashok Faujdar, a resident of the village Kakda in Deeg district, in 2005. They did not have any children.
After Sarla died, her in-laws, along with some villagers, rushed to the cremation ground with her body. Police reached the spot and tried to stop the cremation, the SHO said.
"Police received information that a woman had been murdered. The in-laws were cremating the body. Police arrived at the scene and wanted to recover the deceased's remains and take them for a postmortem, but the villagers confronted us," the SHO said.
Police seized the deceased's half-burnt body and kept it in the mortuary for post-mortem examination, he said.
The deceased woman's father, Naval Singh, has registered a complaint accusing her in-laws of murdering Sarla.
SHO Sharma said a murder case has been registered against eight people, including Sarla's husband, his parents, his three brothers, and two others. All the accused are absconding
Three people have been arrested in connection with the attack on the police team, the SHO said....
