We did more in 1.5 yrs than Cong did in 5: CM
Jaipur, July 4 -- Chief minister Bhajan Lal Sharma on Thursday asserted that the current BJP-led government has delivered more developmental works in its first one-and-half years than the previous Congress government managed in its entire five-year tenure.
"We have completed 253.3 lakh (25.33 million) metres of farm fencing in just 1.5 years, whereas the previous government managed only 113 lakh (11.3 million) metres in five years," Sharma said, adding that the BJP government's performance has been more focused and result-driven. Addressing a public gathering during the Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Antyodaya Sambal Fortnight in Baler, Sawai Madhopur, he cited key statistics to back his claim.
Highlighting Rajasthan's push towards renewable energy, the chief minister said 29,343 hectares of land have been allotted for green energy projects under his administration - significantly more than the 22,597 hectares allocated by the previous government.
He also pointed out the progress under central schemes. "Under the Kusum-A and Kusum-C solar pump schemes, the current government has issued 646 and 2,091 Letters of Award (LOAs) respectively, while the previous regime issued just 489 and 57. Additionally, over 32,000 farmers have benefitted from subsidies through the Farm Pond scheme, surpassing the earlier count of 29,430," he said.
The CM reiterated that the state government is committed to fulfilling its priorities. To increase water availability, fast-paced work is underway on the Eastern Rajasthan Canal Project (ERCP), the Yamuna Water Agreement for Shekhawati, and various projects like Indira Gandhi Canal, Dewas, Mahi, and Narmada.
He said under the "Rising Rajasthan" initiative, MoUs worth Rs.35 lakh crore have been signed, and sufficient provisions are being made to make Rajasthan self-reliant in the energy sector. "In the past 1.5 years, there has not been a single paper leak. We are committed to providing ample job opportunities for the youth - 4 lakh jobs in the government sector and 6 lakh in the private sector over five years," he said.
Sharma said that Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay believed that building a strong nation was only possible through the upliftment of the person standing on the last rung of society. The "Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Antyodaya Sambal Fortnight" is a significant step toward fulfilling his vision. The chief minister emphasised that his government is continuously working for the empowerment of four key sections - women, farmers, youth, and laborers - to ensure development reaches every segment of society.
The CM stated that these camps aim to provide the benefits of government schemes to the poor and underprivileged, improving their quality of life. "The goal is to bridge the gap between administration and the people and ensure that no one is excluded from the development mainstream," he said.
In response to the remarks, Congress spokesperson Swarnim Chaturvedi criticised the BJP government for halting several key welfare schemes initiated during the previous Gehlot-led Congress regime. "No one went hungry or lacked medicine during the pandemic due to its efforts. We provided 2.5 lakh (250,000) jobs compared to the BJP's unfulfilled promise of 1 lakh (100,000) jobs per year. Projects like the ERCP and the Jalore Medical College were also sidelined. The BJP government is silent on public welfare and has failed to continue schemes that benefited farmers, students, and the poor," he said....
