Wanted drug trafficker Jammu Lala held in Pratapgarh: Police
Jaipur, Sept. 12 -- A drug-making unit was busted and a notorious drug trafficker was arrested by the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) in Pratapgarh on Thursday, police said, adding that 17.4 kilograms of MD, over 70 kilograms of chemicals and raw materials worth around Rs.50 crore were seized from the accused.
The accused, Jamshed alias Jammu Lala, was a repeat offender who was carrying a reward of Rs.25,000 on his head, said Pratapgarh superintendent of police PB Aditya.
He had earlier narrowly escaped capture on December 16, 2024, after police raided a drug-making unit in Dewaldi village, from where Lala hails originally, added the SP.
According to Aditya, police received a tipoff that Jammu Lala had been operating a factory in a hut at Tanda Bada, near Bori Mozal border area. After days of surveillance and confirmation, a raid was conducted with local Pipalkhoont police and the District Special Team (DST), leading to the bust.
Investigations also revealed that Yakub Khan, Lala's associate and the prime accused in the earlier case, had acquired illegal assets from drug trafficking.
He had purchased a hotel/lodge worth about Rs.1 crore in Hussain Tekri area of Jaora, Madhya Pradesh, in the name of his wife. The property was frozen on August 28 under provisions of the NDPS Act.
