Voice behind India's most memorable ad jingles
India, April 13 -- Legendary playback singer Asha Bhosle, who passed away at 92 on April 12, recorded thousands of songs over a career spanning more than eight decades. Beyond her contribution to film music, Asha Tai also lent her distinctive voice to advertising, turning jingles into memorable, melodic pieces that stayed with listeners.
In the 1960s, she helped shape the sound of Indian advertising with early jingles such as Phool Ke Samman Hai, composed by Ravi and written by Jan Nisar Akhtar for a Hindustan Lever brand. Decades later, she returned to the space with campaigns like Rasna's Rasila Rozana Utsav, once again blurring the line between music and advertising.
Her voice brought emotion and recall value to brands, helping shift Indian advertising from purely informational messaging to something more musical and evocative.
