Jaipur, Oct. 24 -- Clashes erupted at a highway in Udaipur district on Thurday after a man was killed after an allegedly speeding car hit his motorcycle, police said. The deceased was identified as Ambalal Gameti, said police, adding that the incident occured on Barwada highway 162E. Police added that angry villagers blocked the highway after the incident, demanding compensation for the victim's family and strict action against the accused driver. Efforts by police to clear the area led to stone-pelting, said police, adding that two constables were injured as a result. The body was eventually recovered and efforts are being made to arrest the absconding driver, said police. The blockade caused long traffic jams as vehicles, including those of tourists heading towards Kumbhalgarh and Haldighati, found themselves at an impasse at the site. Following the violence, additional police forces from Sayra, Gogunda, and Kelwara stations were deployed to the site, police officers familiar with the developments said. Efforts are currently underway to control the situation and negotiate with the villagers, who are continuing to demand financial compensation for the victim's family and strict action against the accused driver....
