Jaipur, Sept. 12 -- Union Railways, Information and Broadcasting, Electronics and IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Thursday undertook a comprehensive one-day tour of Jaipur, inspecting key infrastructure projects, inaugurating new maintenance facilities, and proposing the addition of "Jaipur" to the names of nearby suburban stations for better identity. Vaishnaw arrived at Khatipura station after a special train inspection of the Rewari-Khatipura section. At the station, he reviewed the under-construction maintenance shed and inaugurated a newly built shed at Jaipur's Coach Care Complex for the upkeep of Vande Bharat and other trains. The facility, equipped with four-tier platforms, includes upgraded toilets and brake van modifications designed to enhance passenger comfort and efficiency. The Minister then inspected the redeveloped second entry gate of Jaipur station under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. Praising the grandeur and progress of the work, he said. "This redevelopment is not just about infrastructure but also a matter of pride for Jaipur," added the Union minister, as he hailed the project. "The vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for world-class railway stations is clearly visible here," Vaishnaw said further. He also announced that new Vande Bharat trains would soon operate on the Bikaner-Delhi and Jodhpur-Delhi routes, along with an overnight service between Jaisalmer and Delhi. Vaishnaw additionally urged public representatives and local residents to consider renaming suburban stations to include "Jaipur" for clearer identification-such as Gandhinagar Jaipur and Khatipura Jaipur. He called upon elected representatives to forward this proposal to the Centre. Highlighting future priorities, the Minister stressed strengthening rail networks in border regions and directed officials to expedite construction of underpasses and road overbridges in Jaipur to phase out level crossings. At Gandhinagar Jaipur station, he reviewed ongoing redevelopment works, emphasizing the need to integrate Jaipur's architectural heritage into the modern design. "The Prime Minister laid the foundation stone for this project, and very soon its inauguration will mark another milestone for the city," Vaishnaw said. The Minister also personally photographed station developments and interacted with on-site workers, instructing that the main entry building of Jaipur station be completed without delay.
