Traders body urges PM MODI to cut gst on school bags
Jaipur, Sept. 16 -- The Jaipur Bag Association has penned a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, urging the government to reduce the Goods and Services Tax (GST) on school bags and other essential bags costing up to Rs.1000 from 18% to 5%, officials said.
The association highlights that the majority of school bags are produced by thousands of small-scale and cottage industries across the country, as per the letter. The letter adds that before the GST was implemented, many state governments, including Rajasthan, either exempted school bags from tax or placed them in a low tax category, which led to a boost in local manufacturing....
