Bharatpur, July 15 -- A 40-year-old shopkeeper was shot dead by five men in Bharatpur on Sunday evening allegedly after his son denied to give them goods on credit and lend Rs.1,500 for a party, police officers aware of the matter said on Monday, adding that three accused have been arrested, while two are absconding. The incident took place on Sunday evening when the five accused, all residents of Peepla village, went to the shop in the neighbouring village of Fulwara, they added. According to police, after the shopkeeper, Brijesh Singh, refused to accept their demands, they started assaulting him. Somehow he managed to call his father, Ashok Singh, for help. During the attack, one of the accused opened fire and a bullet hit Ashok's head, they added. "I called my father for help when they started to beat me. One of them shot my father dead," said Brijesh. ASP Satish Yadav said, "Out of the five accused, three were arrested within hours on Sunday." MLA from Bharatpur Subhash Garg condemned the murder. "I have told the SP to arrest the culprits soon. The victim's family is very poor and they should be given financial aid by the government," Garg said....
