Bikaner, May 9 -- The toll in the cylinder blast at a shop in Rajasthan's Bikaner rose to nine, with five more bodies recovered from the debris and one person succumbing to injuries on Thursday, police said. Additional superintendent of police (ASP) Vishal Jangid said, "The incident took place at a jewellery shop in Kotwali police station area on Wednesday. The impact of the cylinder blast led to the collapse of the shop, killing three people and injuring several others. Several were feared trapped under the rubble. At least eight people were rushed to the trauma centre at PBM Hospital. Five more bodies were recovered on Thursday and one person succumbed to injuries at the hospital. The deceased have been identified as Aslam Ali (35), resident of Bikaner, Sekh Aslam (38), resident of Howrah, West Bengal, Sachin (22), resident of Bikaner, Kishan (22), from Bikaner, Kishan Kumar (25), from Bikaner, Ramswaroop (22), from Bikaner, Nandadulal (25), from Purba Medinipur, West Bengal, Aslam (30), resident of Mechogram, West Bengal. The identity of one more person is yet to confirmed, police said. According to officials, the blast took place when gold inlay and enamelling work was being carried out. The market houses around 30 shops, with both local and Bengali artisans working in the area. Police, SDRF teams, and locals were involved in the rescue operation, police said, adding fire tenders were also deployed to control the situation. Expressing condolences, chief minister Bhajan Lal Sharma assured support for the victims' families. "The news of the loss of life due to a gas cylinder explosion in Bikaner yesterday is extremely sad and heartbreaking," Sharma said in a post on X. In a post on X, leader of opposition in the Rajasthan assembly, Tika Ram Jully, said, "The news of the death of 9 people due to a cylinder blast in Bikaner is extremely sad and unfortunate. My deepest condolences to the bereaved families."...
