Kota, Oct. 14 -- Preparations are underway to translocate a tigress and a tiger to the Mukundra Hills Tiger Reserve and the Ramgarh Vishdhari Tiger Reserve as part of Rajasthan's plan to strengthen tiger breeding in the state. In the first phase, a tigress from Madhya Pradesh's Pench Tiger Reserve will be brought to Ramgarh Vishdhari via an Indian Air Force helicopter. Authorities expect the relocation to be completed by the end of this month. A helipad is being built inside the Ramgarh Vishdhari Tiger Reserve area to facilitate the operation. Once brought to the state, the tigress will be released into the wild to help her adapt to the new environment. Bundi District Forest Officer (DFO) Devendra Bhati said that the National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA) has granted permission for the relocation. Along with Ramgarh Vishdhari, the Mukundra Hills Tiger Reserve will also receive tigers as part of the plan. In total, seven tigers- sourced from Madhya Pradesh's Kanha, Pench, and Bandhavgarh reserves, and Maharashtra's Tadoba-Andhari reserve-will be shifted to Rajasthan. Three of the tigresses are slated to be relocated to Ramgarh Vishdhari. According to officials, the first tiger from Pench is likely to arrive by the end of October. Bhati explained that tranquilization used during the process remains effective for about six to eight hours, making air transport essential instead of road transfer. Upon arrival, the tigress will be kept in a soft enclosure for observation before being released into the open forest....
