Jaipur, June 2 -- The movement of big cats from the Ranthambhore Tiger Reserve into the peripheral areas of Sawai Madhopur continues. In this sequence, the forest department team tranquillised a tiger near the Sherpur helipad on Sunday morning. The operation took around one to one and a half hours of intense effort by the team. After being tranquillised, the tiger was safely released back into the forest, said a forest official. In yet another case of rising tiger incursions into human settlements around Ranthambhore National Park, forest officials on Sunday morning tranquillised a tigress named Arrowhead near the Sherpur helipad. The operation, which began around 6:30 AM, lasted over an hour and involved considerable effort, including the use of a JCB machine and deployment of forest and police personnel to manage the crowd. According to forest officials, the tigress had been spotted near Sherpur village since Saturday night. However, due to poor visibility, the rescue team was unable to act immediately. "She was hiding in dense bushes, which made the tranquillisation process quite challenging," said a forest department staffer. Once sedated, Arrowhead was transported in a rescue vehicle and safely released into her territory near Shivraj Anicut. This incident marks the second tranquillisation in a month in the park's peripheral areas. Earlier, forest teams had subdued a tiger near Kutalpura Malyan, along with a female cub named Kanakti-the offspring of Arrowhead (T-84)-who was later moved to a Bheed enclosure. Meanwhile, the decision regarding Arrowhead's daughter (Kankati), who claimed two human lives and is currently kept in an enclosure, is yet to be made. After extensive deliberations, the forest officials are close to finalizing plans to relocate the three Arrowhead tiger cubs individually to one of three tiger reserves-Mukundura Hills, Ramgarh Vishdhari, or Karauli-Dholpur. Meanwhile, earlier plans to move the tigress Kankati to a biological reserve have been abandoned....
