Tiger attacks 2 in RTR; 4th in last two months
Jaipur, June 14 -- A tiger attacked two individuals near Kailashpuri Anicut in the Khandar range of Ranthambore Tiger Reserve. The injured have been identified as Sitaram Saini, an agriculture supervisor, and a forest guard.
After receiving information about the incident, forest department staff rushed to the spot and transported the injured to the district hospital for treatment.
A senior forest official said a tiger, probably T-8, was sitting in the anicut, prompting people to gather around. The forest guard stopped them, but an agriculture department official went too close, following which the tiger attacked him. To save him, the guard rushed in and sustained minor injuries.
This is the fourth incident in the last two months - a forest ranger was killed by a tiger on May 11, and a 7-year-old boy fell victim to a tiger attack on April 16 in RTR. Subsequently, a 70-year-old temple guard was mauled to death last week inside the historic Ranthambhore Fort. The attacks are suspected to have been carried out by the cubs of tigress Arrowhead - Kankati (female) and her male cub - both of which are kept separately in enclosures....
